Pescheria – Murano – until November 25, 2018 – The Berengo Foundation presents LUX-LUMEN, among the special events of the forty-seventh GAS (Glass Art Society) conference, which will animate Murano for the next 3 days, with a schedule of events filled with meetings and internationally renowned initiatives. The designer Andrea Cingoli was entrusted with the preparation of the exhibit, held inside an area of one of the island’s historic glassmaking factories.
The event traces the history and follows a path from Rezzonico to LED, in an exhibition that introduces the interpretations of chandeliers made by some of the most famous contemporary artists. Among the works on exhibit there’s also a creation by Andrea Cingoli himself, the “LampPoPcorn“, a lamp that is characterized by the descriptive power of blown glass and its natural lightness of being, representating, as the name suggest, popcorn.
“For me – stated Andrea Cingoli – it was a double and compelling satisfaction, for the assignment given to me and certainly stimulating for the preparation that required a simultaneously museographic and landscape design and, even more, for having been one among the artists selected. The settings and the calibre of the works required a particular effort and I can only thank the curator of the review, Adriano Berengo, for the trust granted to me.”
The exhibition brings together the works of 23 contemporary artists and, ideally, continues the activity launched since 1989 by Berengo Studio, that up until today has invited over 300 artists from all over the world and from different branches of knowledge – from sculptors to musicians – to collaborate with its master glassmakers in creating extraordinary glass works of art.
