Inclusive Design for Increasingly Accessible Tourism

On June 10th, we will be at the Chamber of Deputies to discuss “Design 4 All.”
Architect and designer Andrea Cingoli, founder of Concepticon Design Studio, will participate in the conference “Inclusive Tourism as a Growth Factor” held at the Sala Regina of the Chamber of Deputies in Piazza di Monte Citorio, Rome.

The event, organized by Hon. Simonetta Matone in collaboration with the association Ruote a Spasso APS, will feature representatives from associations and companies particularly sensitive to the topic. As stated in the declared objectives, the initiative “is a unique opportunity to explore the transformative potential of usability in the tourism and cultural sectors. In a world increasingly characterized by diversity of abilities, an aging population, and increased use of strollers, usability becomes imperative to ensure everyone can fully participate in the travel experience.”

Among the speakers of this important day of discussions will be Andrea Cingoli, who will talk about ‘design for all’. His speech will focus particularly on the theme of “inclusive design,” an approach to design aimed at creating objects that improve the lives of all people with their different “characteristics and sensitivities.” This theme can also be applied in the context of tourism.

This approach to flexible and inclusive design was also the subject of Andrea Cingoli and his Concepticon Studio’s recent participation in the latest Salone del Mobile in Milan. An installation held at Superstudio (Fuori Salone) showcased the ‘Oleg’ project, a multifunctional and flexible piece of furniture capable of changing its functions and arrangements according to different contexts of use, abilities, and needs.

Andrea Cingoli’s interest in inclusive design themes is a long-standing one, making this conference at Montecitorio a particularly appropriate and fruitful context for discussing and delving deeper into the topic.

In addition to Andrea Cingoli, the conference will be attended by numerous personalities from the world of institutions, associations, and businesses, including the Minister for Disabilities Alessandra Locatelli. The conference will be moderated by Dr. Benedetta Capelli, a journalist from Vatican Radio.
